Depends on the time, but there is an event at the same time at Perl Harbour to remember the defenders that lost their lives
I might be able to come to both, maybe

I don't think it was "cancelled" per se, but I don't think anyone else has really stepped up to organize it.

I have plans with my family more-or-less all day (taking my kids to decorate the christmas tree at my mom and dad's house) so I won't be able to make either event. (Well, I installed FG on my dad's computer as he's ex-USN (not aviation, though) and a flight-sim buff too, but I doubt I can sneak away from the festivities long enough to really participate...!! LOL)

For anyone that cares, my grandfather (my dad's dad) was also USN, but he *was* in fact a Naval Aviator during World War II -- he was actually a F4U Corsair pilot on the USS Bogue, which had a couple of German submarine kills or so I'm told. This was in the Atlantic, though, nowhere near Hawaii.
Cheers,
-Rob.

Update!

The F-15 was tested out there, and it just can't slow down fast enough before the end of the runway comes around, so the speed will be 300 -350. Suggested aircraft might be something like the Saab or the J-22...maybe even the Pc-7 :D

IMHO, 400 knots is just too fast for such a short distance.

Agree. Acceleration, formationing and deceleration in that distance (22 nm) is almost insane. Keeping our past events in mind it always take atleast 30 minutes before all participants are airborn, on speed and in formation. With 400 kts you would fly that distance in 3-4 minutes :?

Well, you just have to follow proper formation flying procedures.
That means picking a rendezvous point and circling around it.

We had a rough start but it went pretty smoothly after that...I had some trouble landing on that runway even though I had practiced on it for the past 3 days
